Driemanskap - Igqabhukile Inyongo

Hailing from Gugulethu, Cape Town, Driemanskap is a 4-man crew made up of members El Nino, Ma-B, Redondo and Dla. Together they form the vanguard of the new generation of proudly South African Hip Hop artists who understand that Hip Hop, more than any other musical art form, is about addressing important issues and representing where you’re from. Driemanskap are one of the pioneers of the Spaza movement, representing Cape Town with a rhyme style that combines their mother tongue, isiXhosa, with English and Cape Flats slang. We plan to release Driemanskap's long-awaited full debut album, Igqibhukile Inyongo, in the first quarter of 2009. Expect a lot of new material before then though. There are guest features by Kanyi (fresh from rocking the Cape Town Jazz Festival with Rus Nerwich), Black Dillinger (making waves in the international Reggae scene), Siya, Rattex, Sugar, Macho and Bizzah. Guguletu is definitely in the house! The gall bladder has burst – and things will never be the same.

Maggz - The Break Out

He made his debut by means of a mixtape co- produced by Omen (from the Peanut Gallery) titled Sorry for The Long Wait. This was given a good reception by their audiences in their performing spaces. This brought him in association with people such as Bongani Fassie and Ghetto Ruff. He went on to release his album, The Breakout under Ghetto Ruff which also obtained much success but later on left the stable to operate in independence. The hustle as many may call it, continues for Maggz who also credits his mananger Pule Mokoa for a job well done.Many are unaware that his hip-hop career began more than a decade ago, in 1996, while he was studying at the National School of Arts. The cashtime member has the capabilities of emphasizing that soulful kwaito-melodic rap that Cashtime possesses and we’ve witnessed this through tracks such as Showlove’s “Good Times Back” and his underrated 2012 hit “Change”.

Hakeem (Flex Boogie) - Pens & Swords (Deluxe Edition)

Flex Boogie’s album Pens & Swords is another must have for fans of real hip hop. We all know that Hakeem is a lyricist. His exhibition of skill is to be admired, his flow is too dope, and in terms of concepts, H’ got it on lock. The new album boasts some new characteristics from Flex, but the jazzy piano and bass guitars are still there. Featuring bangers like Tswakomore and Thwantsha Monwana, Flex Boogie displays the lyrical genius of Hakeem that we all know so well and a tribute to his baby girl shows off the soppy dad side of him. F-Eezy - Gate Khahlela

F-eezy was a new born to the game who comes from Native Rhythms – the label that brought us the likes of Siphokazi and Zulu Boy.  Even though F-eezy was still fresh to the music industry, it wass clear that the youngster perfected his craft before he sealed a deal with Native Rhythms. What is impressive about this release is the fact that the artist knows his story, his lines are on point. The flow is there, very tight and supported by punchy lyrics. Every song contains an amazing story. As a music listener, all I really need is good music that can make me think of things I’ve never thought of before and F-eezy does that impressively. There is a song; “Valela Evenini” where the artist is talking about how someone was arrested and charged for something he never did because of the corrupt officials who didn’t even bother to question him. The song is indeed sad and the beats manufactured have done their part to make the story touching and real.

Calvin Harris - Motion (AAC)

Motion is the upcoming fourth studio album from Scottish DJ and record producer Calvin Harris. It is scheduled for release on 31 October 2014 through Columbia Records. The first single from Motion debuted in Autumn 2013: "Under Control" was released on 7 October 2013 and featured Alesso and Hurts. The album campaign continued with UK number one singles "Summer" and "Blame" in March and September 2014. On 5 October 2014, Harris announced the other featured artists on the album: Gwen Stefani, Ellie Goulding, Ummet Ozcan, Big Sean, R3hab, Tinashe, Haim, Firebeatz, Hurts and All About She.

Chillimane – The Code Of Conduct

Being born in Pietermaritzburg at a time of political violence did not stop Siphelele Zuma from following his dream! Raised in Newcastle, Siphelele – or Chillimane as he is known to his fellow musicians – was introduced to hip-hop by his older brother when he was just 12 years old. He remembers the first rap song he listened to was the Wu Tang Clan’s Ain’t Nothing to F Wit. He quickly developed a love of hip hop, which solidified when he went to boarding school, where he wrote his first lines. Chillimane said: “I wrote my first verse in Standard 7 in the study room and got a round of applause 15 minutes later. That was in 1995.”In 2003, Chillimane started taking his rapping more seriously when he laid down his first verse with The Killers, a rap crew consisting of Magnificent Servant, Cupid, Bling and producer Mr Smash. The Killers, Chillimane’s first group, later broke up due to religious and spiritual differences between members. Fans might remember him from his Slaghuis days. He has also performed at the Soweto Festival and on the theme song to the popular TV drama Zone 14.After recording over 50 songs to date; Chillimane is ready to drop his eagerly awaited album – The Code Of Conduct. The first single Ish Dade sees him experiment with kwaito. The CD is available at Thesis Concept Store in Mofolo, Soweto.
