TZ Deluxe - Where Were You?

The most anticipated collaboration album in South African Hip-hop would be that between veterans Tumi and Zubz. I doubt this is what their fans had in mind though. The artwork alone lets you know there is mostly humour intended in this spontaneous (made in 3 days) commentary on Kwaito’s golden era. Tumi himself says they deliberately did not overthink the project so it’s not one for the train spotters. Their raps over Kwaito songs classic and long forgotten stirs up nostalgia, a smile and some sadness rest in peace TK and Iggy, get well soon Mshoza...). You pick and choose your moment and match the emotion as your mind wanders to the rappers’ reinterpretations. Footloose is the original soundtrack of the Paramount motion picture Footloose. The original nine-track album was released in 1984 and reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart on April 21, 1984, where it stayed until June 30, 1984. When it was re-released in 1998, four bonus tracks were added to the album. In 2002, Sony International released the Australian Souvenir Edition (aka Australian Cast Special Edition). Two megamixes were added to the album, featuring the Australian cast of the Footloose musical. This was supposed to be his debut album on Street Novelty, but they parted ways and he decided to give his fans for free. The LP has features from Maggz, Clu, Blaklez, Reverb, Ras, Smashis, Kid X and more.  The Beat boys, Sean Pages & more on production.... Give credit where it's due, undoubtedly one of the best RAPPERS S.A ever produced. His appearances on Bongani Fassie’s Rise, L-Tido’s  All or Nothing and stablemate BlakLez’s debut Black Beast has only strengthened his presence on South Africa’s hip hop circuit. Mothipa - Cure For The Pain

Wordsmith and lyricist hailing from the Vaal triangle in South Africa Mothipa, dropped his critically acclaimed LP "Cure For The Pain" which was on levels with Mothipa’s lyricism mastery, accompanied by raw, hard hitting production from then 13year old Hopemasta (No Sleep hit maker). This album is a definite underground must have. Not only does it add respect to your collection of underground hip hop, but also spreads knowledge and might just teach young hopeful underground MCs a thing or two about lyricism with his new LP titled Cure For The Pain. Addressing a range of different issues, such as crunk music and “Cap City cats who weren’t ready for his dope style”, Mothipa has put together a wonderful contribution to underground hip hop music. He starts off with an intro that clearly explains why the project had to be made, and progresses through with dope rhymes on nice beats. Tracks like “Hypnotic Hip Hop” and Industry Hijack represent him well and exhibits his excellent writing skill. So much more could be said about Cure For The Pain but it would be best if you just copped yourself.
