Apollo Brown & Ras Kass - Blasphemy (iTunes)

  • Blasphemy, the collaborative album from esteemed Mello Music Group producer Apollo Brown and Ras Kass, is a thought-provoking and highly personal treatise on the unspoken. The sub-rattling and operatic opener “How to Kill God,” a scathing indictment of major religions and the transgressions enacted in their name, serves as a statement of purpose. No “ism” is out of bounds, no topic too untoward. Whatever you hold sacred isn’t above aggressive inquiry. Above all, this album displays Apollo Brown & Ras Kass’ undeniable synergy. Their sacred writ is the same, their blasphemy for those who want to think as they nod to the rhythm. When Ras Kass crucifies supposed facts over Apollo’s beats, it’s clear he is the West Coast’s preeminent philosopher.

  • Canadian rapper Aspects showed his skillz already on the last two Snowgoons Albums along with Ghostface Killah & Billy Danze of M.O.P. It's just natural that the Snowgoons would produce his debut album "Grind Over Matter" entirely. The feature list is second to none, from G-Unit's Young Buck to Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon & Ghostface Killah, all the way to Mopreme Shakur (the brother of 2Pac), as well West Coast legend Bizzy Bone (Bone Thugs N Harmony) & Spice 1. Further New York's hardcore outfit M.O.P. and Sheek Louch of (P. Diddys group The L.O.X.). Not to be missed is Canada's finest Madchild (of the Swollen Members) and Aspects partner in crime Paragraph. Snowgoons deliver the perfect soundtrack for Aspects after just finishing the latest album by 90's legends Onyx. The album is 14 songs strong and more than ever it reveals the strong musical part of the Snowgoons without leaving their original sound. Goon MuSick presents another highlight on the hip hop sky- Aspects "Grind Over Matter".

  • Amu is arguably one of the best and most highly respected hip-hop stars in South Africa. The star, whose real name is Amukelani Tshawane, has created a buzz like never before with the release of his debut rap album CD, The Life, Rap and Drama. His first single Attention featuring Pro-verb and Selwyn has received enough attention to gain chart spots around the country's radio stations. So huge is the track that radio stations have opted to play its remix before going for the next single from the album. Since being featured in a hip-hop compilation titled Tha Muthaload in 1996, industry people and experts felt Amu was ready enough to release a full-length album. Amu says the album took this long because he was waiting for the right time to release it. The intro takes one though the meaning of the album title and pays homage to hip-hop front runners, such as Prophets of the City (P.O.C) and Black Noise. The Life, Rap and Drama is also made up of a lot of rap styles and Amu moves from Zulu to English with ease. Tracks that stand out include Act Crazy, Phakamisa Feat. Mr Dust, Face The Facts, It's Over, Since I Met U, Buza and Kids Don't Learn with Busi. The album was recorded in his studio and done through his label Buvground Entertainment. With this label Amu plans to uncover talent and artists who do not have the chance to have their stuff released. Howza is the first artist to be signed to the label, and he is featured on the album on the tunes Who's The Villian, N.O. Mosity and the Attention remix.

  • All I can say about this guy is… Listen. I am so caught up in him that I didn’t have time to request his bio. But what I heard was enough to paint the picture clear of what hills was. Think Brother Ali and Krodon combined with Youkmouth. Outside the pigmentation of their skin, concentrate on their delivery, the skill of storytelling. Adlib: it’s the boy with the uptown voice
