Former Rap Group member of Hidden Force is based in the neighborhood of Thokoza in the city of Ekurhuleni, Jo’burg. His drive is to become Africa’s most courageous Music Artist, Producer and Sound Engineer. Over the years past Hoodlum installed his production skills on numerous African hip-hop artists career like, Hidden Force, Zubz, Kabomo, Mr Selwyn, Pro Kid, Slikour, H2O, Tuks and Jub-Jub to mention but a few. In the year 2000, Hoodlum needed no introduction as one of the hottest hip hop producers in the country with the likes of Omen, Amu & Nyambz around that time. Hoodlum won a music video voucher worth R34,000 in 2003, Courtesy of Levi’s Jeans, Y-Fm, Matchboxology and African Dope Records. But way before then he’d dropped his first project in the 90’s (Not Guilty and Thokoza’s Finest 1st Edition) and followed it with another release in 2007 called Junk Food. Unbeknown to the commercial scene, in 2012 he dropped a beat tape and has put in work with the likes of PRO, Zubz Slikour, Bongo Riot, Mr Selwyn and Rival Ace. His album HD is on iTunes and contains 21 tracks and features the likes of Reason, Seida Cook, Grindsmith, Kruna & Mr Problem. He says the album is a defining sound. “It’s like a dictionary of hip hop sounds. It’s just a mix of tracks recorded. There is no fundamental meaning to its inception. It’s not a comeback.”

Although he has not gained the same level of mainstream success in his solo career as some of his Wu-Tang counterparts like Method Man, he has acquired critical praise for his intricate lyricism, and for his verses on many of the group's most revered songs. The R&B/pop singer, hailing from San Jose, Calif. has churned out melodic earworms like "Hello", "Invincible" and now, her Kendrick Lamar-assisted single "That's Me Right There." After sampling fame as a 7-year-old beauty queen at a local mall, Jasmine relocated to Los Angeles, booking modeling and commercial acting gigs before rocking the mic full-time. She was soon signed to Damon Dash at 12 following an impromptu street rendition of Frankie J's "How To Deal." After a few lukewarm releases and brief industry hiatus, Jasmine found herself coping with an abusive relationship, eventually turning her fame into a platform for domestic violence victims in the teary-eyed video for "Didn't Mean It." Now, she's stomping back onto the scene in fresh Timbs with her That's Me Right There EP

Skwatta Kamp - Khut En Joyn
By:
Muse
On: 00:13
A seven-piece top South African hip-hop act pronounced "Skwa-tah Camp" (members: Infa, Nish, Shugasmakx, Flabba, Nemza, Slikour, Bozza), the group's name is derived from "Squatter Camp" -- a term for the shantytowns littered around South Africa’s open landscapes. The people who live in these informal settlements are seen as outcasts, a nuisance rife with crime and grime. The group has seen life take a turn for the better in the last years since their now-legendary classical and independently-released sophomore album "Khut En Joyn" under Buttabing Entertainment. The album boasts singles such as Rau Rau and Manyisa which cemented their place as South African hip hop super Group. Two of their albums ("Mkhukhu Funkshen" from 2004 and "Washumkhukhu" from 2005) have both separately sold in excess of 25,000 units (gold status) and counting after that. Khut En Joyn is a true South African classic album.
Hidden Force - The TakeOver
By:
Muse

South African hip-hop crew from Johannesburg, Gauteng, consisting of Gaoza, Lebza, Hoodlum, Bon Bhutiza and Supremo. Their debut album, The Take Over, led them to stardom in local music circles. They churned out hits such as ‘Senzeni Na?’, ‘Thokoza Anthem’, and ‘Fak’Imali – The Takeover’. Their success, of course, came with the package of the territory: the parties, TV appearances, the groupies, and the larger than life feeling that came with their newfound fame. Consequently, personality clashes and lack of business approach led to the premature downfall of the group. The experience unfortunately led to a separation amongst the four members, leaving Gaoza and Lebza standing stronger and later reinventing themselves as Deep Level.

Zuluboy - Masihambisane (Da 1st Hip Hop Lesson)
By:
Muse
On: 00:11
Zuluboy released his debut album on September 11th, 2006 titled ‘Masihambisane – Da 1st Hip-Hop Lesson’ under his record label native rhythms records. The album has the making, sound and feel of what a PhD of rap student would present to their professor as their final dissertation - after many years of research on the subject. Zuluboy has risen to the challenge that the industry, locally and abroad, has been shouting for - that is, where is the South African album that is both ethnocentric but global? The album is that album! In this album, Zuluboy has stayed true to his name, identity and character. This album - which travels musically and lyrically, in and out of the urban environment, whilst connecting to the deeply rooted culture of the mighty Zulu nation - has definitely earned him stripes in the rural villages as well as the hostels populated by Zulu migrant workers, whilst hip-hop heads in the metropolis has given him the props. Influenced by the sounds of Zulu spiritual war songs and accapella, accompanied by rhythmic clapping and foot stamping as if to awaken ancestral spirits, Zuluboy has unarchived songs long-forgotten and fused them into the great hip-hop tradition. The album Features Inyosi Umletshe, Jah Seed, Sufidun, Pro Kid, Young Nations,Believers in Christ, Gloria Scott, Amadodona ase Weseli i and Zamani. Lead singles include Baleka, Hail to the Kings and 3 Zulus on da Mic
Jozi - Muthaland Crunk
By:
Muse
On: 00:10
From the Ghetto Ruff stable comes Muthaland Crunk, the debut release by hip hop outfit, Jozi. Whilst incorporating international influences with regards to the R ‘n B and hip hop genres, Muthaland Crunk is saturated in strains of Maskandi, making this release proudly South African and locally authentic. Luther Cohen, Bongani Fassie, Leslie Mampe and Ishmael Morabe; it just doesn’t get more talented than that. As a lead vocalist, Ishmael lends his experience to a project that is refreshing and contemporary. You’d be forgiven for thinking that Ishmael and Bongani are the heavyweight headliners in the group, make no mistake that the rest of the team are equally worth their weight in gold, delivering material that is both polished and professional. Jozi instead knock-around with Dancehall, Maskandi and R ‘n B to great effect. ‘Rock With You’ and ‘Wayithini Umami’ have been heavily punted on national radio stations including 5FM, illustrating the crossover appeal associated with this release.
Prokid - Heads and Tales

Linda Mkhize, also known as ‘Pro and ProKid, He is a Hip Hop artist who was signed to the Gallo Record Company after his independently released track ‘Soweto’ gained popularity. Prokid’s Heads & Taleswas a classic South African Hip Hop album, that captured the mood and attitude of that time, because that’s when local rappers really started being proud of their mother tongue and spitting bars in Zulu and other indigenous languages. Pro wasn’t the first to do it, but he was the first to keep it really “hip hop” without breaking away from what the hip hop culture is all about. He told his story, a true South African story that most young people could relate to. His sharp tongue, dope Zulu raps & that grimy kasi flow are what propelled him to the top. Lead singles were Soweto, Woz' uzoba bona and Celebrate. Guest artists featured are Syd Money, Carla Diamond, Amu, Relo, Hoodlum, Nothende, Maggz and Sgebi. Production is handled by Dome, Beatmaker, Nyambz, Hoodlum, Dplanet, Amu and Draztik
