Ransom – Pain & Glory (iTunes)

Pain and Glory "The Album" is a classic master piece that the entire world need to hear and see. I say see because it's literally a movie in sound. Ransom lyrics are powerful and heart-felt. He tells stories about his life growing up in "Childhood." He expressed his love for his brother and his relationship with his dad in "Born Free." He expressed his street side in "How you want it" which has a west coast vibe. Despite being a foster child, Ransom manage to have a vision of being a legend as he promised his mom and dad in "Major Star" rather it was at rapping, basketball, or football. Ransom addressed issues from his life where he gives hope to many young children who are lost in the ghettos and anyone else experiencing a struggle in life. Ransom literally gave his heart full of pain to Hip Hop to keep it breathing since many rappers aren't willing to do it. Most rappers are busy sucking and jiving and aren't concerned with the ghetto, They rather be Illuminati celebrities who worship the devil. Once you listen, you will "press rewind" and if you're a skeptic then you will become a believer. These are words from Ransom in "Fallin." Ransom is hungry and deserves the respect. You can play this album over and over again without skipping a track especially if you can truly relate or going through issues in life. In my opinion, Pain & Glory "The Album" is one of the greatest albums in Hip Hop History. Ransom as a MC and Pain & Glory "The Album" are unique and stand alone which no one can touch. And if you know any rapper who is better then Ran then pick him out because its going to take him and a couple of other rappers to take him out. Appearances on the album come from Joe Budden, Jadakiss, Fredie Gibbs, and more.

The Rest Is History is Jin's debut album released on October 19 a decade ago. Originally titled Almost Famous, the album was delayed for over a year. Originally slated for a Summer 2003 release it was pushed back to an October 2003 date. After plans did not materialize, the album's release date was pushed back once more to March 23, 2004. However, the release date got pushed back twice more, to August 24, 2004, until it finally arrived, with a completely new title, on October 19, 2004. A promotional track, Chinatown featuring fellow Chinese American rapper L.S. was thought to be the first single. The first official single, "Learn Chinese", came out in late 2003. "Get Your Handz Off ", another promotional single (second overall) was released online and impacted radio on June 29, 2004. The second single for the album was slated to be "I Got A Love", but Roc-A-Fella Records blocked the decision, fearing too many singles would over-expose Kanye West.

The winner of the 2009 Hype Award for Best Lyricist, Abdus, real name Ndlelanhle Biyase released his debut album "The Library" in 2012 and has promoted that throughout the province. His opening appearances for Usher (2012) and Lil'Wayne (2011) have solidified his status as the torch bearer for Hiphop in the province of Durban. Before I get carried away, let the man speak for himself. With 19 tracks featured on Library, Abdus’ music is soulful and creative, combining great beats with contemporary hip R&B sounds. The talented artist became involved and known on the hip hop scene in his college days when he would perform at the bus terminals at the Workshop on West Street every Friday after his classes.

Goapele Mohlabane possesses a distinctive name, background story and voice. Her first name means “to move forward” in Setswana, a language spoken in South Africa, which is the homeland of her father, Douglas Mohlabane The elder Mohlabane was a political dissident and exile during that country’s Apartheid era, and he went to college in Kenya. That is where he met Goapele’s mother, Noa, a woman of Jewish descent who had been attending rallies and participating in causes with her parents since she was 12. The couple eventually settled in the Bay Area’s South African exile community. Goapele is celebrating the release of her fifth studio album Strong As Glass, which hit stores this week. Following the fun and funky single “Hey Boy,” the singer has now released a stream of the album’s title track for fans and new listeners to enjoy. Over elegant keys and soft percussion, Goapele opens her heart to the world, but shares her understanding that while she’s a strong, courageous woman, she still needs to be treated with gentle care. “I’m only as strong as glass, they say I’m built to last, but I could break,” she softly sings on the chorus as the tempo picks up and she belts out the commanding lyrics. Strong As Glass is currently available on iTunes.
